FAQ

Changes to your Joomla! website are made through the Joomla! Administration panel. The URL for this area is usually http://yoursitename.com/administrator. When Joomla! was installed, an administrator username and password were chosen. Use this to log into the Administration panel, and get started!

If you are new to Joomla! and have no idea where to begin, check out the Absolute Beginner's Guide to Joomla!

If Candyweb installed Joomla! for you, then we sent you an email containing your Joomla! Administration username and password. If you can't find the email or password, you may Contact Us for assistance.

Copy the following code, and drop it into

FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. This is the method used to upload files to your web server. The web server is the computer that your web host uses to store the files that make up your website. When we are building a website, we log in to the web server and upload the new files.

The FTP information is provided by your web host. Usually, it is sent in the welcome email when you open your hosting account. With some hosts, you have to create your own FTP account using the web host control panel.

FTP information consists of 3 items: FTP Address/Host Name, Username and Password. Often, the Host Name is the same as the domain, such as www.mywebsitename.com.

Candyweb will often ask you for FTP information so that we can work on your site. It can be obtained through your web hosting company.

To advertise your website, pay-per-click advertising campaigns can be set up with major search engines such as Google and Yahoo. First, you must create an account and fund it with a Debit or Credit card. Then, we will create ads that relate to your website products and services. We will also come up with a list of keywords that will determine when your ad will display.

When someone searches for one of our keywords, your ad will appear in the right column. If the user clicks on your ad, they will be taken to your site, and you will be charged for that click.

Candyweb has plenty of experience managing ad campaigns. Google is the best way to get results, but you should expect to pay at least $100 per month for good results. For small budgets, we suggest using Yahoo Search Marketing. Yahoo does not have as many searchers, but it seems to give better overall results for low budgets ($50-$100/month.)

Candyweb charges $35 per hour.

First, we will discuss your website needs. Whether we need to upgrade your exising site, or start from scratch, we have to first hash out the details of the job. We can email and talk on the phone. One of the things we will discuss is whether you already have a Web Hosting Plan. If not, you will need to purchase one.

After you tell us what you need, we will provide you with an estimate of the time involved for the project. The estimate document will include the details discussed, called website specifications. These specifications should be as specific as possible, so you know exactly what you're paying for.

Once you receive the estimate, you will review it, and inform us of any changes to the specifications. If you decide to go forward with Candyweb you can simply inform us that you agree with the estimate. We will then begin work.

On the first project for new clients, we generally ask for a percentage of the estimated price as an initial deposit. After that, we bill weekly, based on the number of hours worked.

Once your project is completed, you can review it and make changes. It is generally advisable to wait until project completion to request new features or other changes. These requests will take additional time above your original estimate, and can be considered as 'Add On' projects. Sometimes though, it's just easier to adjust things as we go. We are quite flexible about this, but we will let you know that these things are going to extend the project beyond the original budget.

Yes, there are lots of things you can do to improve your Google Page Rank. The two most important factors are Content and Links.

CONTENT
In business, the key to success is Location, Location, Location. But on the web, it's all about Content, Content, Content! The importance of your website is evaluated by the amount and quality of relevant content. This is by far the most important factor in Page Rank.
